It’s a bizzare twist that to bring some diversity into my life and do more physical work in my weekly routine, I thought it would be really cool to help out a local charity. I enjoy physical work, even after a very grueling month in Manchester doing up a house I was keen to keep pushing and keep working.
I found Vale Volunteers. They’re a fantastic bunch of people who really enjoy what they do because like me they feel they are making a difference. There is no ego, no motive nor glory shouting or back stabbing. They work hard but also have a great laugh too!
I met a very nice lady by the name of Chris, she interviewed me and asked me what I wanted to do; I didn’t know I had a choice! “Oh, you have a choice of 600 clients” she replied. I was humbled. My only caviet was I wanted to make a difference in whatever way I could.
Anyway, after a very light hearted and informal discussion I’m now designing their annual report among other things! Not quite the physical work I was expecting, that’s to come next Tuesday when I’ll be outside, on my knees, weeding. I’m totally looking forward to it…BRING IT!!!
