After the high energy of Slashed Seat Affair last week, I knew it would be a hard act to follow. I have not been disappointed with the acts so far however when Christina Tomlin (www.chrystinatomlin.com) came on I had an open mind.
The crowd took a while to warm up but Christina was a pro, dug in and sung her songs with passion. I was sold! I pointed my lens and searched for the killer shot. I admired Christina’s performance, she was selling it without being over the top. Sometimes in these local gigs the performance can seem exagerated which is fine for a larger stage but Christina’s restraint meant it was a more personal and intimate show.

With Christina doing the vocal duties up front, it was the bass player who caught my lens. He was simply having a great time! He had the rock stance, the attitude, the baseball cap which created a great sillohette and a real determination on his face to give it his all and most importantly enjoy it! I shot as many of him as I did of the lead guitar and drums together. I made the effort to thank him for a great performance and he seemed encouraged by the shots I showed him off the back of my Nikon.

Although we didn’t have the amazing light shows from last week, we did have the simple but effective lights that lit The Swamis a few weeks ago. Although these lights are simpler the great thing is they have a simple temperature which meant I didn’t have to keep adjusting the white balance.
Great performance by Christina who is stunningly photogenic, a terrific presence by the bass player and a great show!
