I love my job. It is tough and often unforgiving in this economic climate but I really is a love comparable to that of a partner. But, it is a solitary occupation. I have spent countless hours and days sitting in front of my Mac Pro sorting and editing thousands of photos. My only companion is my cat Toffee and whatever happens to be playing on Radio 2.
Once in a while, once I have completed shooting a wedding, I feel like I’ve done a good job. I have certainly enjoyed myself but there is that sense of keeping myself in check. Because up until the point of when the clients see the photos I never actually know how pleased they will be? And not just that, will they be pleased with the service, my professionalism and did I meet their often very high expectations?
Honestly, most of the time I don’t know but today I do know! I came back from a meeting this afternoon, just as I was driving onto my driveway there was a Parcel Force van parked outside. I’m always excited when the Parcel Force van comes because it’s usually a new camera bit, a new album or sometimes something fun. I ripped open the box to find….

…I could not have been MORE HAPPIER to see a photo of myself, in a sparkly red cowboy hat from a wedding I completed recently. I do not consider myself photogenic at all, but that image brought memories of a fantastic wedding came flooding back to me.
I can honestly say this has been a very welcome surprise; it is not the gift itself that made me smile, but the thought I have fulfilled my clients expectations and made their wedding just that little bit special.
My special and heartfelt thanks to Hannah and Marco. x
