Photographing Coombe Hill with a Fisheye lens

The weather was pretty good today so I went with Kelly to the top of Coombe Hill in Aylesbury to just spend some time together photographing the view. I’ve been up there several times with various lenses but never with my ultra wide Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8 fisheye lens. There was a strong wind so we didnt’ stay up there too long. It was just very pleasant spending time outside with another photographer. When I have a camera, I insist on going with someone who appreciates photography, because of the amount of times I stop to take a shot!

Kelly and realised that it has been a while since we just went out somewhere and photographed for fun without the pressures of a live assignment like a Wedding. I thought Oxford is very close to Aylesbury so why not! We met up with a Spanish photographer who wanted to get in the UK Wedding Scene which was fun.

Another day with no plans. So I texted a friend to see if she wanted to go out for a Photography hike today, no reply. Turned down by a girl again! Ah well, her loss (and you know who you are!!).

Anyway, the original plan was to hike somewhere unfamiliar, but since the plans had changed I wanted to go somewhere closer so on the way I grabbed a friend and went for a very leisurely walk. The sun came out and we found this huge stockpile of logged trees. We tried lifting them but dammit they were heavier than my Nikon D3!!

I’m so glad I went out, now I intend to just chill out on this very nice Sunday afternoon. Mind you, it looks like it could be a nice sunset…

I went out on an overcast Saturday with my Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm lens which is the best travel lens out on the market.

I wanted a video to document the shoot as I knew it would be fun. Kelly was in charge of the video shoot while I concentrated on directing Jade. Kelly did a great job! I asked her to shoot as much as she could… had I been in charge of video I wouldn’t have stopped at all

The video is shot entirely on a Nikon D90 in standard mode. It’s a great little camera and certainly complements my Nikon D3.

A special thanks to Pete Edwards and the rest of Red Bullets for allowing me to use their track Shrink Wrap as the soundtrack.

Yes, it is still snow and yes I am still taking photos of it. In fact, I wish it kept on snowing! It has created an amazing playful canvas for this photographer to play in.
