At the core of the day I felt a true sense of partnership between Aida and Bob. I am a sentimental fool at heart so when I see two people so in touch with one another it does give me pause every time I have them infront of my camera.

Photographically, even though the weather was not cooperating, it only gave me a few problems when shooting outside. Thank goodness Nikon made their cameras rain proof! Even though I was a little restricted by my environment and movement I didn’t make things harder for me, on the contrary it forced me to think on my feet which got the old blood rushing a bit! Unusually I was carrying a Nikon and a Canon; my main camera will always be the Nikon D3 but I’ve been able to carry a Canon 5d Mark 2 around with me recently so I wanted to know how it performed. Because of it’s large zoom range (24mm to 105mm) I could get some nice shots. Hoever, it was the D3 that saved me a few times when I need to shoot fast; it was the utmost importance to me that I got the balance of great wedding photography with keeping the Bride and Groom comfortable. Not easy when it’s cold, drizzly and windy!

It is just an observation on my part, but I believe you can tell what kind of people the couple are by the people they invite to their wedding and to me it seemed like the have the riches of good people in abundance.

Right now, I’m in the middle of editing a few thousand photos from several weddings in September so I wish I could write more, but I shall leave you with this about Aida and Bob’s wedding day. I just hope all my future weddings will be as indelible as theirs.

The Catering was done by Seasons Catering based in Old Amersham. I have never met them before but I was very impressed with their hard working ethic but also very impressed with how well they worked together. So as a quick nod to them, here’s a group shot of just a few of the outstanding staff.

I’ve literally just got back home. I’m archiving the files to my server now, but I’ll leave you with a sneak peek photo that I hope summarises this perfect day.

it is by no means grand in scale but it has class and vintage air in abundance. Having only been here for a few hours the place oozes a place with a lot of history. There is little contemporary fixings, it remains old and beautifully kept.

As great as the venue is, it is nothing without the staff at runs it. the team here led by the welcoming Tracy are brilliant. They are so friendly and professional that it really amazed me. at this wedding, the weather was not looking kind so I had to make a few big decisions about where to take the group shots. There was a lot of pressure from all sides and a bit of confusion because the guests weren’t sure what to do next. It was left to me to take the next step. I asked Tracy and a few other staff members to help out. Without hesitation they took away some of the pressure. It could have been more difficult without the cooperation of the Tudor Barn staff, I applaud every one of them.

The days is not over for me yet. As I type, I’m sitting in what was the ceremony room while the wedding party are having their breakfast on my iPad.

I have had the privelidge of photographing a wedding at the Great Barn before only a few months ago. I had an amazing time then and I had a fantastic time now! I strongly believe it’s not just the location and buildings that make a Wedding reception venue great, it is the staff and without a single exception the staff at the Great Barn are amazing.

Yours truly must thank the wonderful Caroline for just going above and beyond to make the wedding day special and to accommodate a photographer trying to capture the magic.

I took these photos for the Caroline and the people who work so hard at the Great Barn. They are all fantastic. I hope to meet them again, I hope to work along side them soon.

This is just a very quick blog to post a few of the photos I hastily edited last night, I’m actually preparing for another today today (don’t worry Aileen, I’m all packed and ready to go ) so I’ll just say I really enjoyed yesterday. It was also nice to see a previous bride there as well.

It was a rare moment of tranquility for me which was most welcome at this time. I loved being around the stillness and the fact nobody needed anything from me just long enough for it to be remembered. I really looked at where I was rather just seeing. And in this world of hate and greed I felt hope, it was calming.

As I was composing shots, a local stopped by for a chat. She was very helpful and showed genuine kindness to a stranger. She went out of her way to show me the wildlife garden that was tucked away behind thick hedges. I gave her my card in the hope she could see the photos I have taken from today and from the wedding.

Naturally I took some photos; the ones I have chosen, although few, capture what I was feeling this evening.

As for this last photo… this is my kitten Toffee. Why is he here? No reason, it’s just because I can and to me he’s the cutest cat in the world.
