I am a proud Christian! There, I said it! Some people support Manchester United, some people support celebrities but I support God.

I felt it was important to say that because of the significance of yesterday’s wedding meant to me. Laura and Merlyn’s day a Christian wedding with God firmly in the middle and it is my belief that marriages will mean more and be more solid with that faith binding the couple together.

There are many photos to process but I did a rushed edit because I knew there would be loads of you wanting a sneek peek at the moments Kelly and I captured. The final images will not look like these as I will spend MUCH more time editing them.

My (other) best friend’s wedding

Saturday 27th June 2009 was a day to remember. After a year of discussions, decisions and drama my mate Kelly O’Brien became Mrs Kelly Louise Bond! I’m so very proud of her. We’ve spent a lot of time together both professionally and as close friends to see her in that dress was breath-taking. She remained calm through the day, didn’t panic or stress. I told her to take her time; no wedding can start without the bride but I wonder if they can start without the photographer?

Personally, I could have not been happier for her. Of all the weddings I have attending (and there have been quite a few now) this one has to be the most special. I realise I am biased when I say this but there was nothing ostentatious or pretentious about the Wedding. It was by no means simple but it was graceful. I loved it, but I couldn’t take the time to take it all in because Terry the Photographer had a job to do!

Professionally, I arrived a bit earlier at Kelly’s home, it was a little bit crazy downstairs as the Brides Maids were busy doing whatever they were doing with their hair. Upstairs, Kelly was upstairs with another Brides Maid Charli Girl (CG). I didn’t really take time to pause I went straight to work Photographing the Wedding Dress which was breath taking. The light wasn’t perfect, trying to balance the shadows, the sunshine from outside and getting the contrast right was tricky but I came up with a brilliant solution… rotate the dress 45 degress! Hey! I thought it was good

I have to confess to being a little bit cruel to the bride as I wouldn’t show her the photos on the back of my Nikon, I didn’t want her to focus on the photographs, I wanted her to be the Bride…I mean, how often does a girl get to be a Bride!? She didn’t complain too much as she knew better than to argue with me Professionally, besides she was busy looking fabulous.

Being a photographer, Kelly had slightly different expectations; because she knew what I was capable of and understood the process she wanted specific shots which most brides would not even ask for so it was refreshing to be challenged in unexpected ways.

It was the perfect day for my best mate.

Kelly is on her honeymoon in Italy so I have a bit of time to get through all the photos. In the meantime I have a few photos from other weddings to take care of, and I have another one this weekend. It really is the season to be married!

Kelly and I went over to Oxford yesterday to photography Annie and Chee. We had a great time. It was wonderful to work with Kelly again, we really spark off each creatively so it was a brilliant, fast and energetic experience.

There will always be the debate of which computer is the best, Apple or Windows. Well I for one have been an advocate of Apple even during my term at Microsoft! However, this is my top trump, my 4 Aces, my jackpot, my “How do you like those apples” moment. During the of the Valentine’s Day shoot, Jade wanted to review the photos and to take some back to show her dad. Normally I don’t allow this but brunette’s have this strange power over me… I’m not entirely sure I like that!

Anyway, while Jade and my good friend Kelly were review the photos I caught a few candid shots of them and I reckon I caught a couple of great shots of the girls using my Apple MacBook Pro.

A privilege of being a Photographer is I have some time during the day to experiment and learn a bit more about my trade. So after a quick meeting in town I met with my friend Kelly for a coffee and went to some locations around our town to see what we could capture.

One truly bizarre moment was when an Eastern European woman insisted we took photos of her and that she was going to call the Police! We did not point the camera anywhere near her direction, and since we were in a public place we have every right to photographer whatever we want. She gave me a mini lecture about us breaking some law which she clearly knew nothing about and storm off to supposedly find a Police officer, however she quickly returned again (we hadn’t moved at that point) and lectured us again about photographer her! By this time I didn’t appreciate her attitude and false accusations and wished her good luck, she stormed off again. We moved on a few feet down the alley way, and we noticed her storming back to where we were, I shouted “Hello! We’re still here, any luck with finding the Police?”. She ignored us, and I have a funny anecdote!

I had to post this photo up! It was just an ordinary gate, but from a certain angle the nail at the center really emphasized the the focal point.
