If you’re at a gig, and you see a photographer point at you… Smile!!!!

I love my job! One of the best things about it is capaturing moments on stage, but one thing I am beginning to appreciate are the crowd. They are some of the most expressive faces I could shoot; they are entirely in the ‘zone’. The artist which they adore is playing on stage so their instinctive reaction is to smile, whoop, cheer and scream!

At my next gig (tomorrow) I’ll be getting more of the crowd, and here’s my message to the crowd and fans, when you see a photographer point his camera at you, it’s because he finds you interesting. You may not like your photograph taken, but trust me, the photograph will only use it if it’s good enough (well, a Pro would anyway). So please smile, wave, cheer, point, pose, grin, laugh or just give me an intense stare!!

Below are some crowd shots from Party in the Paddock 2008; see if you can spot Mr Roger Daltrey :-)

Roger Daltrey, a living legend at Party in the Paddock 2008

I have loads more photos of Mr Daltrey but I wanted just to give you a sneak peek of what is to come. I will say this though, he is the first legend I have had the pleasure to meet and shake his hand. A real gentleman. He was swarmed by fans backstage (which I was fortunate to have access to) and constantly remained professional.

I’m not someone who is a celebrity hound, I detest reality shows and talentless fame but without a doubt Mr Daltrey is a great example of a modern day legend.

Mr Daltrey, I salute you.

Red Bullets at Party in the Paddock.

The lads are always impressive, and this evening was no exception. The sound was really tight, the performance was engaging and it really looked like they were having a great time!

Gig tonight photographing Roger Daltrey, Deep Purple and Marillion.

It should be a good evening tonight. I was invited to photograph a small-ish venue that is supposedly packed! I’m not sure what to expect, I don’t know what to wear at these things. I’ll be posting pictures up around Sunday. It’s going to be a busy weekend!

Slashed Seat Affair at Hobble on the Cobble.

One of my favourite bands rocked it out at my town’s Hobble on the Cobble festival.

Red Bullets at Hobble on the Cobble 2008

The boys are back in town! The Red Bullets have never failed to shine infront of the camera and these shots from their performance at this years Hobble on the Cobble was a showcase for other bands and a benchmark measure on how to deliver the goods.

Fluid Lines - a band to watch out for.

I had done my homework before Saturday and I knew this band were going to rip it up. There is a lot of attitude in their songs so I could almost visualize them giving it their all at the King’s Head last night. I wasn’t disappointed. The lads were amazing; the lead vocals Callum Wood just gave a performance like an old pro. Great to photograph and great to listen to.

As inividuals the were great, as a band they are faultless. If there is any justice in this world, they should make it to the big leagues!!
