A perfect opportunity to grab my Nikon and take some photos in the British sun! I set myself a challenge though; to photograph and submit pictures of food. Also I limited myself to a 50mm f/1.8 which isn’t actually that useful in bright sunlight.

Continueing my look into seasonal Wedding flowers we come to Summer. Although that may seem like a long way off, it’s best to plan these things way ahead.

Like the spring, the summer months are also abundant with a wide variety of beautiful flowers, the best loved of which is the sunflower. Though perhaps not considered to be traditional wedding flowers, the large simplistic shape and bright petals of sunflowers make them the ideal flower to create bold and cheerful wedding bouquets that are perfect for a charming, relaxed summer wedding. Sunflowers are also ideal if the bride, groom or significant members of the wedding part suffer badly from hayfever, as they are very low in pollen. Roses ˆ the traditional flower of all things love and romance ˆ are also in season in the summer and naturally make beautiful additions to any bouquet and come in a large spectrum of colours.

Lilies are also wonderful flowers for summer weddings and the long stalked calla lilies make particularly stunning and sophisticated bouquets. Other seasonal flowers that are perfect for weddings are irises, cornflowers, snapdragons, delphiniums, cockscombs and lilacs.
