Gillian and Joe

The couple booked me with relatively short notice; I normally do no not see potential clients at the venues without first conducting an informal visit to my house, but there was something about Gillian when I spoke to her that changed my normal instincts. Whatever the reason, I am so glad I did.

The venue is the beautiful Latimer Place in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. I knew early on that it would be just sumptuous to photograph and the perfect backdrop to a Wedding.

I had my brilliant secondary photographer Kelly cover Gillian at her parents house, while I camped at St Leonard's Church out in Chesham Bois. It was more important that I cptured the bride's arrival at the church, as well as the guests awaiting the first glimpse of Gillian. It was also a good opportunity to meet up with the best man and ushers as I would be needing their services for the group shots later on.

It was another glorious sunny day; I have been so blessed that all my weddings so far have been sunny and warm(ish). Gillian arrived on time at the Church. They didn't want me to photograph the ceremony which is fine by me; it also gave myself and Kelly a chance to sit in on the event. We are both Christians so it was enjoyable to see a Wedding in 'action' as it were.

At the end of the ceremony, we leapt into action, we knew the plan and where they were going to exit. The guests all poured out forming a very English line to congratulate the newly weds.

Then off to Latimer Place where the official group photos were going to happen. We had discussed using the grounds as the prime location; I would set up everyone to face me while I was standing on a balcony to get an elevated photograph. You can see the result on the left. I am particularly proud of this shot because every single person is focused on the camera, no one is blinking or itching or looking the other way! Also, the golden hue of the sunset really gave a warm back light to everyone's head.

It really was a fantastic day, and definitely a wedding to remember.
